Ancient Tombs on Shizhai Mountain

The Shizhaishan Ancient Tombs are located in Jinning County, Yunnan Province. It is the tomb of the Dian King and his family servants from the Warring States Period (475 BC-221 BC) to the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). Shizhai Mountain is about 33 meters high, 500 meters long from north to south, and 200 meters wide from east to west. There is a Neolithic shell mound on the top of the mountain, covering an area of about 5,000 square meters. There are no rules in the tomb pits in Shizhai Mountain. Generally, the soil between the rocks is selected to dig a pit, which is regarded as a tomb. There are 4 types of burials. There are many kinds of unearthed artifacts, including bronze, gold, silver, iron, jade, sea shells and so on. Bronze wares are mostly cast by the lost wax method, among which inlay, gilding, carving, and tin alloys have reached a high level. The types of bronzes include weapons, production tools, daily utensils, shell storage, musical instruments, decorations, etc. Weapons include daggers, spears, tombs, swords, forks, axes, crossbows, arrowheads, helmets, armors, etc. Production tools include hoes, shovels, sickles, chisels, needles, cones, fish hooks, etc. Washing; Zun, Zhen, pillow, mirror, belt hook, box, etc. Musical instruments include bronze drums, chimes, etc., as well as various buckles hanging on people, utensils, and coffins. In addition, on the unearthed special utensil "Storing Shells", there are various pictures of the activities of characters, such as ancestor worship, war, textile, farming and other scenes. These bronzes are exquisite in craftsmanship, beautiful in shape, gorgeous in decoration and vivid in carving and casting, and are rare ancient handicrafts.
