What people are saying:

Awata Shrine is an ancient shrine built during the Heian period in Japan. It is located at the east exit "Awataguchi" in the "Seven Ports of Kyoto". It is a well-known shrine that prays for travel safety. The shrine in the shrine, the north facing Inari Shrine, is said to be a shrine visited by the famous swordsmith Sanjo Kogazumi in the late Heian period before building the famous sword Kokomaru. The famous sword Sanriyuki Zongjin, known as one of the "Five Swords in the World", is also the work of Sanjo Zongjin. As one of the last shrines, Kaji Shrine is the place where the God of Kaji is located. It is dedicated to Sanjo Sokin and Awataguchi Toshiro Yoshimitsu. Toshiro Yoshimitsu is the most iconic swordsman in Awataguchi. He has created countless famous swords for the royal family and nobles in his life, and most of them used short swords for body protection. The only existing Taishou he has created is "One Phase Yizheng". It is a royal name of the Japanese imperial family, and it remains as the private property of the imperial family.

    Not very touristic

Awata Shrine is located on the top of a small hill near Sanjyo Street and Higashiyama subway station. You probably do not need to go there purposely, but you can visit it on the way to Shorenin Temple...

    Quiet place to wonder.

I stumbled on this place by accident while walking down into the Gion area. Found a rare white blossom Cherry tree and towering bamboo.
