What people are saying:

If the theme of the exhibition appeals to you, this is a good museum to watch. It has interesting timeless exhibitions of modern Japanese art, and good works of art in Kyoto. The floors of the museum are easy to manipulate. Both brochures and labels are in English. The building and location are superb, with a view of the mountains surrounding the city. There are comfortable lounges on the ground floor and the top floor with views. The cafe in the museum overlooks the picturesque Lake Biwa Canal. Unlike the National Museum which has a sensational exhibition this month that attracts many visitors, the Modern Art Museum makes people feel very quiet

    Nice museum display

There were permanent and special exhibits in the museum. The fashion displays were interesting but we preferred the paintings portion.

    NICE PERMENANT COLLECTION

But I was lucky to see the history of the Kyoto school of painting featuring well known artist that created this rival to the Tokyo/Edo school.
