What people are saying:

The museum is located in beautiful Meiji era building, but sadly the permanent exhibits on the history and culture of Kyoto are not that extensive. The audio guide helps you to get a better feel of Kyoto from the 10th century to modern day, but it still leaves a lot to be desire. If you know nothing about the history of Japan this is a good place to start, but otherwise I'd say skip it and explore Kyoto on your own.

    Great Mucha exhibition

I visited the Kyoto museum without any expectations except to learn something of the local history and culture. What I found when I got there was a fantastic exhibition of the Czech artist Mucha works...

    Do not go!

I’m a big fan of museums, I love history, but this one was an Awful museum. No English, no proper structure. Not worth it at all. A waste of your time.

Kazan's woodblock prints made it for me

This museum was a bit of a disappointment, with not a lot of content, despite Kyoto's obviously rich history. Also, not much of the text that accompanied the exhibits was in English. But the current e...
