Yunnan Offbeat | First Encounter and Delightful Guide to Nuogan Ancient Village after Rain
In the Jingmai Mountain of Lancang
There is an ancient village called Nuogan
The village is simple and quiet
Each household makes a living by tea planting
The whole village is not big
Now there are less than 300 households left
It's one of the well-preserved original ancient villages in China without commercialization, which is really rare
The Jingmai Mountain where the village is located is also applying for intangible cultural heritage
Liu Haoran's movie 'One Point Straight Home' was also filmed here. This village is really my favorite among all the ancient villages I have visited. I want to stay here for a month doing nothing
I went there in mid-February
The whole Jingmai Mountain was already full of flowers. Actually, it's most beautiful to go there in March and April
At this time, you can also experience tea picking
Finally, some practical information: How to get there: You can choose to drive or take a bus. The overall road condition of Jingmai Mountain is asphalt road, but there are many winding mountain roads and bends. Be careful of oncoming vehicles when turning.
How to shoot: The day I went happened to be a rainy day, so the photos taken have a very special feel. The rain turned the eaves into a deep blue color. The main shooting location is on the main road when you enter Nuogan Ancient Village. You can also go to the roof of a local Dai family's house to shoot, which is also very photogenic.
When shooting, be sure to pay attention to exposure, do not overexpose
◆How to edit photos: You can edit towards dark and blue tones, with the highlights leaning towards blue and the shadows leaning towards blue-green
◆How to play:
It is recommended to control the duration of the visit to two days and one night
On the first day, you can stay in the neighboring Wengji Ancient Village, and play in each village for an afternoon
In Wengji Ancient Village, you can see the sea of clouds in the parking lot, and both the village gate and the village center are suitable for check-in. Remember to try the local corn wine and lemongrass grilled fish~

There is no hustle and bustle in the ancient village, no stress from the city, no hotels, no bars, no hawking, only the original simplicity and nature, and the fragrance of Pu'er tea from the old tea shop.
People live in a relatively primitive way, here you can feel the charm of nature, see the original state of life, feel the human world, look at the sea of clouds, breathe the sweet air of tea, cleanse the soul, relax, feel the simplicity of the Dai people.

A natural village dominated by the Dai ethnic group, nestled among thousands of acres of ancient tea gardens, like the ancient tea trees, it has settled the simplicity of thousands of years. It exudes a rich aftertaste, possessing a peace and tranquility that seems to be separated from the world.
The smoke and mist gently surround the villagers returning home, walking slowly, carrying the afterglow of the setting sun...

What is Jingmai Mountain applying for as a World Cultural Heritage site?
When you come to Jingmai Mountain, you pass through the ancient tea forest, visit Nuogan Village, see the sea of clouds in Mangbai Village, photograph the sunset in Wengji Village, drink ancient tree tea, taste tea tree leaf fried eggs, how to integrate these fragmented experiences, this question found the answer in the Jingmai Mountain Ancient Tea Forest Cultural Landscape Heritage Exhibition in Huimin Town.
The Jingmai Mountain Ancient Tea Forest Cultural Landscape is a system that includes nine villages, five ancient tea forests, and three separate protective forests. With tea forests, forests, and villages as the core, it wisely distributes production, ecology, and living land. The nine villages include: Jingmai Dazhai, Mengben, Manggeng, Nuogan Laozhai Manggeng of the Dai people, Mangjing Shangzhai, Mangjing Xiazhai, Manghong, Wengji, Wengwa of the Bulang people.
The exhibition includes tea tree domestication, heritage elements, tea making, tea trade, tea and faith, etc. The exhibition methods are quite diverse, for example, it also presents the biodiversity of Jingmai Mountain through the paintings donated by Mr. Zeng Xiaolian (a famous Chinese botanical painter), displays the life and festival scenes of Jingmai Mountain villages through photographs, and introduces the life of the indigenous people through daily necessities and house models.
Compared to the crowd shooting the sunset in Wengji Village, there are very few people watching the exhibition. Perhaps it is because the exhibition itself is not well publicized. Among the many travel notes I have read, few mention this exhibition. If you could see this exhibition before going up the mountain, perhaps the two-day footprint on Jingmai Mountain would be more purposeful and less random.
Tips:
1. The exhibition is free and there are two floors in total. It takes at least 1 hour to look carefully. The quality of the exhibition is very high. It is recommended to watch it before going up the mountain, which will help you have a comprehensive understanding of Jingmai Mountain.
2. The documentary shown in the exhibition is only open to paid tour groups, but it can be found on the website of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. There is a Pu'er Magazine Heritage Application Issue at the front desk, which you can buy to read and supplement some information.
3. The Tea Horse Ancient Cellar next to the exhibition is a commercial project under construction, mainly to improve the chain of Pu'er tea in Jingmai Mountain from tea picking, production, storage, and sales. The design of the tea cellar is quite particular, and if you have time, it can be part of the visit for understanding.

Jingmai Mountain, this is a hidden secret realm in the clouds
This is China's newly added 57th World Heritage Site!! It is hidden in the southwestern border of Yunnan, at the junction of Xishuangbanna, Pu'er, and Myanmar. It is a top hideaway where Banyan and Aman are vying to settle in, the real 'Flower Road'.
Jingmai Mountain is very far away, there are two villages worth seeing, one is Nuogan Ancient Village, and the other is Wengji Ancient Village. The two villages are 7-8 kilometers apart, and this short journey can amaze a 'Flower Road'. The ancient tea forests all over the mountains, the dense winter cherry blossoms, self-driving spiraling on the tea forest path full of cherry blossoms, the scenery in front of you is so beautiful that it is unreal!
Just in this season, it's like an animated world.

Jingmai Mountain preserves the oldest and complete tea culture customs of Chinese ethnic minorities. There are no obvious boundaries between forests, clouds, tea trees and villages. People live in tea forests, and the air is filled with infinite tea and flowers. And the aroma of thousands of plants.
Wengji Guzhai is a small stockade under Jingmai Mountain. It has been made by tea and tea for generations, and every household is well versed in tea making skills. Because it is far from the mainland of the ancestral land, and surrounded by mountains, it is shrouded in thick clouds all the year round, and there have been few wars in history.

Lao Dabao has very prominent national folk music. As a whole, Lao Dabao traditional music can be divided into two parts. Gourd Square
Gourd Square is located in the southern part of Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, on the north side of the ring road. It is a comprehensive square that integrates ethnic culture display, tourism, commerce, leisure and entertainment, and is an important place for large-scale festival activities and cultural displays. Lancang is the only Lahu Autonomous County in the country, gathering one-third of the world's Lahu population and half of China's Lahu population, and it is named after the Lancang River to the east. The Lahu people regard the gourd as the incarnation of their ancestors and use the gourd as a symbol of the totem. The Lahu people believe that they came out of the gourd and pursued the spiritual pursuit of the sun and the beautiful wish of auspicious happiness.
