English speakers:Great museum. If you want an English speaking guide, this must be arranged a day in advance (and naturally paid for). some great catalogs in English, and a particularly superb/unusually comrehensive pottery collection. silk route objects also spectacular. Note many of the buddhist statues are reproductions. Nice cafe.

Must see three pieces of Zhenguan treasure 1⃣ copper benma (Figure III, Figure IV) Eastern Han bronze ware, unearthed in 1969 in Wuwei City, Gansu Province, Leitai Han Tomb, now Gansu Provincial Museum, high 34.5 centimeters, body length 45 centimeters, width 13 centimeters. The copper horse is Yong Jian, in the form of a gallop, three of them leaped up in the air, only one right back foot on a flying swallow, at the same time flying swallow also looked back in surprise. After repeated research by archaeologists, this copper horse is shaped according to the standard of ancient good horse, almost every one of the scale, so experts think it is not only outstanding artwork, but also the French rule of the horse, in 1983 horse treading fly swallow was identified as a Chinese tourist mark. 2⃣Human head shaped pottery bottle (Figure VI) Unearthed in Dadi Bay, Qin'an Yaodian, Gansu in 1973, fine mud red pottery, high 31.8cm, caliber 4.5cm, bottom diameter 6.8cm, the shape of the instrument is a long cylinder with two pointed ends, slightly internalized at the bottom, the abdomen and ears have been disabled, the mouth is rounded carved human head. This 5,000-year-old bottle of human head, which has created a dignified, simple and generous image of a beautiful woman, embodies the ancient people's artistic expression, which originated from reality and transcended reality, and cleverly combines the head with the bottle of gourd, which is interesting and vivid. It is a representative work of the earthen bay. 3⃣ Guo make the picture brick (Figure VII) Unearthed in 1972 at the tomb of Weijin No. 5 in Jiayuguan City, Guo make the picture brick 35cm long and 17cm wide, the picture brick is beige base, black outline, painted a messenger, wearing a black satin, wearing the leader's middle coat of soap edge, carrying the cardinal in the left hand, jumping horse speeding, The horse is yellow and has red patches. In addition, it can be seen that the puppet in the picture has no mouth, which also shows the secrecy of the puppet, so it looks very vivid, people have to admire the wisdom of the ancients. The excavation of the tiles of the paintings has renovated the image records of ancient postmarks in China. This relic is also the earliest image material of ancient postmarks found in China.
In order to go to the museum early in the morning and learn from the troubles that it was difficult to park at the Shaanxi Museum last time, the hotel booked is a ten-minute walk from the museum. There was a long queue after eight o'clock in the morning. The museum is free of charge and tickets are not free, and entry is still fast if you make an appointment in advance. Make an appointment in the public account in advance, summer vacation is more 🔥. There are several self-service cabinets to rent audio guides in the lobby, which is very convenient, picture three. The audio commentary is dry and lacks artistic beauty. Exhibition content: There is a Dunhuang art exhibition on the first floor, which is a foreplay for going to Mogao Grottoes. The second floor is red Gansu, the Silk Road, paleontological fossils, and the third floor has Buddhist art exhibitions, Yellow River elephants, and painted pottery, which are all very interesting. Exhibition highlights: The treasure of the town shop is the "Horse Stepping on the Flying Swallow". The moment when the horse takes off with three legs and surpasses the bird with one foot, the expression is cute [sneer laugh] There must be a cultural and creative shop at the exit of the museum. Many items are quite innovative. tips: Opposite the Gansu Provincial Museum is the center of Lanzhou, which is very convenient for eating, shopping, and parking.
The picture tiles displayed in the Lanzhou Provincial Museum are very distinctive. The one we are most familiar with is the portrait brick of the “poster map” as the symbol of China Post. This was unearthed in the tombs of the Wei and Jin Dynasties in 1972. The picture bricks are a true portrayal of social life at that time, and the post office map is the most complete of them, expressing vividly the situation of the post post in the northwest region more than a thousand years ago.
The bronzes on display at the Gansu Provincial Museum are also very rich and precious. The most well-known of these is Tong Ben Ma, also known as Ma Ting Feiyan, which travels in and out of Wuwei in Gansu Province and is currently a symbol of Chinese tourism. The other unearthed tripods, jue, zun, and 卣 are exquisite in craftsmanship, reflecting the superb bronze smelting technology at that time.
