Lanzhou Shifogou Lingyan Temple is located in the hinterland of Shifogou, in the Shifogou National Forest Park, 16 kilometers south of downtown Lanzhou. It is a Gelug (Yellow Sect) monastery of Tibetan Buddhism. The Shifogou temple was discovered in the early Qing Dynasty. A stone cave was discovered on the cliff with a stone Buddha statue on the wall. In Jiaqing (1796-1820 AD), monks made alms to collect donations, built Shifo Temple, and abbot for many years. Shifogou was named after it. The temple was destroyed twice during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty (1862-1874) and during the "Cultural Revolution". According to textual research: In the 4th year of Emperor Taiwu of the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 431), the leader of the Xianbei tribe and the king of Bailan of Tuyuhun, Muronggui, expanded and built a temple based on the Shifogou Lingyan cave, which he had built. , So named "Stone Buddha Temple". Afterwards, all mongolian and Tibetan lamas were invited to abbots. Therefore, the "Reconstruction of Gaolan County" Volume 10 "Yudi" records: "Stone Buddha Temple is a Tibetan Buddhism Tantric Dojo, and the main offering is the double statue of Vajra Sadao." During the Jiaqing period (1796-1820), Jue Luo Yongyan was rebuilt and renamed "Stone Buddha Temple". During the "Cultural Revolution", the temple was completely destroyed, leaving only caves. After gradually implementing the religious policy in the 1980s, the government approved the reconstruction and opening of the Shifogou Ancient Dojo.

The Lingyan Temple in Shifogou was funded and reconstructed by the Great Living Buddha of Tibetan Buddhism by the Great Living Buddha and the Great Khmer Semek Khenze Rinpoche. It was built from September 8 to September 13, 2010 by the Dashan Khul Semek Khyentse Rinpoche and many eminent monks. Presided over the consecration for Shifogou Lingyan Temple. At present, Lingyan Temple is still under partial repair, so it is not convenient for tourists to enter in some places. But the difference here is that there are no tickets and no merit box.
