What people are saying:

Xujiashan National Forest Park is located on the north bank of the Yellow River in Lanzhou. It is a downtown "Peach Blossom Spring" created by the greening of the north and south mountains. The forest area is 97.4 hectares. The greening of the park began in the 1940s. There are more than 2,000 acres of forest land including the "National Support for Gansu Greening Tree Species Memorial Forest", "China-Japan Friendship Memorial Forest", and "March 8 Memorial Forest". In the summer of 1942, when Chiang Kai-shek inspected Lanzhou, he ordered the greening of the northern and southern mountains of the city. The authorities named the section of Beishan as Zhongzheng Mountain, and selected Xujia Mountain as a test site, planted trees, and erected a stele on the peak of this mountain. The stele still exists today. In the autumn of 1944, US Vice President Wallace visited Xujiashan and presented more than 90 kinds of forage grass. In October 1946, the Chairman of the British Aid to China, Klipps and his wife visited Xujiashan. In the 1980s, Song Ping, Xiao Hua, Hu Yaobang and others all personally cared about the greening of Xujiashan. In 1999, Premier Zhu Rongji led the leaders of various ministries and commissions to inspect the ecological construction of the northern and southern mountains of Lanzhou in Xujiashan. Therefore, although Xujiashan seems to be not so famous, it is actually a mountain with history.
