The Austrian National Gallery, also known as the Belvedere Palace, is composed of two buildings. One is the Lower Belvedere Palace built in 1714, which was then the summer residence of Prince Eugen; the other part is the Upper Belvedere Palace built in 1721. It is a place used by the royal family to hold various grand festival celebrations. This palace is one of the most beautiful Baroque palaces in the world and has now become the Austrian National Gallery. The collection of artworks includes masterpieces from the Middle Ages and Baroque to the 21st century, with a focus on Austrian painters from the end of the 19th century and during the Art Nouveau period. Time is limited, we only visited the Upper Palace.
