Photos of St. Thomas Church

The church is famous for Bach's carefully cultivated Thomas Choir and Bach's conductor. From 1723 to 1750, Bach was organist and chorus conductor here. His famous "Passion of Matthew" and other famous songs were premiered here. The church was created in the 13th century and evolved into what it is today in 1702. The present Thomas Church was also rebuilt after the war, and Bach's remains are placed here. From 1723 to 1750 Bach served as organ and choir conductor here. Bach's burial is in front of the main altar in the church. The master devoted his life to music, and after his death he was immersed in eternal creation —— the interior of the church was decorated with ancient instruments from the Thomas Choir. The top of the Gothic window depicts Martin · Luther, Bach and the victims of the First World War.
