Du Fu Thatched Cottage. This scenic area marked as historical site and at the same time acts like museum, traditional Chinese garden and a park. For entrance need to pay. Inside you will see... traditional Chinese... see above nentiined. The place is beautiful, the trees, bushes are actually cut, the area is clean. The museum is not one buildings, there are several pavilions where very old and interesting artifacts are preserved. Between pavilions and small buildings with museum installations ate lying paths through trees with rich vegetation. Interesting, colourful, knowledgeable. Du Fu was an famous poet and philosopher in the ancient Sichun history. Yes, he had lived here in his small and ascetic cottage made from locally grown bamboo.

However, the original thatched cottage no longer exists. It was later rebuilt to commemorate the great poet, and the expanded Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum. Recently, during my revisit to the Du Fu Thatched Cottage, I discovered a highly distinctive 'Thatched Cottage Wood Art Gallery' near its north gate. Through the physical exhibits, photographs, and descriptions displayed in the gallery, I gained a clearer understanding: wood art encompasses wooden architecture, furniture, and carvings. I meticulously admired the traditional Chinese furniture and the various types of wood used, the exquisite woodwork, the small yet beautiful wooden architectural models, the fine wood carving artworks, and the wood art tools, both familiar and previously unseen... After the visit, I felt immensely enriched: Not only did I acquire knowledge about wood art, but I also enhanced my cultural appreciation for it!

Du Fu's Thatched Cottage was the residence of the sage of poetry, Du Fu, who sought refuge from the An Lushan Rebellion and lived in the Shu region. He resided here for nearly 4 years. More than 240 of his poems composed here have been passed down to this day, including timeless masterpieces such as 'Happy Rain on a Spring Night' and 'A Song of a Cottage Destroyed by Autumn Winds'. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, the poet Wei Zhuang found the ruins of the cottage, rebuilt the thatched house, and preserved it. During the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, it was repaired and expanded.
