One of my favorite biking routes in Guangzhou is along the riverside towards Er Sha Island. Once I've entered Er Sha I walk along the riverside towards Haixinsha island. Haixinsha is a beautiful place for a stroll. Just a reminder you can't bike on the island. You can stop off and grab a coffee at the PAIX coffee truck on the island and get a stunning view of the Canton Tower. #views #guangzhou #cycling

HaiXin Qiao, officially put into use on 25 June 2021, is the first pedestrian bridge across the Pearl River connecting Haixin Park and Canton Tower in Guangzhou. It has the largest span(198 m) and widest width(15m) of curved beam and inclined arch footbridge(length: 488 m) in the world. Haixinsha East Wharf (also known as Haixinsha Red Boat Wharf, Boat Story. Haixinsha Wharf) is an important legacy of the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, serving as the docking wharf for the Asian Games flower boat parade. The Haixinsha East Wharf boasts beautiful scenery and complete facilities, mainly accommodating large luxury Pearl River cruise ships and the Pearl River Red Boat, providing Pearl River cruises, tourism theater, and conference and exhibition services. The Red Boat is a symbol of Cantonese opera, which flourished in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. Cantonese opera troupes used the Red Boat as a means of transportation, traveling through the waters of the Pearl River Delta, docking, and performing to great acclaim. 'Boat Story' tells the tale of a Red Boat opera troupe from a century ago. The show lasts 45 minutes and integrates various art forms such as opera, drama, dance, music, and acrobatics. Characters like the Western District Lady, the young man Qiu Ge, the Cantonese opera lead actress, and the Red Boat disciples all make their appearance on the Pearl River Red Boat, taking visitors back a hundred years to experience the dramatic lives of the Cantonese opera performers of the Red Boat opera troupe. Haixin Bridge (Haixin Bridge), officially known as the 'Pearl River Pedestrian Landscape Bridge,' is located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China, spanning the Pearl River. It is the first pedestrian bridge across the Pearl River in Guangzhou and a part of Guangzhou's central axis pedestrian system. It is also the world's largest and widest curved beam arch pedestrian bridge. Haixin Bridge construction began in May 2020; the bridge was joined on February 8, 2021; a global naming contest for the bridge was held in May 2021; and it was opened and named 'Haixin Bridge' on June 25, 2021. The bridge connects Ersha Island Art Park in the north to the Canton Tower in the south; the main arch spans 198 meters, with the east side walkway measuring 488 meters in length, and the west side walkway 256 meters, covering an area of 6,300 square meters. The design concept of Haixin Bridge, inspired by 'Qin Ming Xuan Wu · Lingnan Flower Boat,' incorporates elements representative of Lingnan culture, such as Cantonese opera water sleeves, Guangzhou's waterborne flower market, and ancient Lingnan guqin, blending the bridge perfectly into Guangzhou's central axis pedestrian system. Haixin Bridge operates and manages in the manner of a tourist attraction, implementing a reservation system, staggered timing, time limits, flow restrictions, and quantity control. It is open to the public from 7 am to 11 pm, with each time slot lasting one hour and a maximum capacity of 2,500 people per slot. Currently, reservations are not required from Monday to Friday, but are needed on weekends and public holidays.
