I could not recommend this place highly enough! All the staff are exceptional, funny, helpful and knowledgable! Also, a visit to the cafe is a must......absolutely delicious. Thank you so much for a lovely day!

Big Pit: The National Coal Museum is an experiential museum. It has a lot of knowledge about miners and iron ore. You need to change work clothes and bring a helmet and flashlight to enter. The light is not good and there are not many photos taken. You need to follow the staff to listen carefully. ~
The staff explained the history of the mine and the people working there very well, explaining how the mine worked in its heyday. Former miner Rob was an excellent tour guide and then had lunch in the miner’s cafeteria. The tunnel ground is uneven and sometimes slippery.
