Chinese American Museum

The Huamei Museum is the largest Chinese museum in the United States. It has four main exhibition halls opened in the first phase. The pictures and objects on display include the clothes, jewelry, daily necessities, stationery, furniture, immigrant confessions, and even the medicine cabinet and counter of the entire Chinese medicine shop. And the big food chef at the grocery store. In downtown Los Angeles, in a sprawling high-rise complex, there is a quaint two-story red brick building, which sits quietly on the edge of a small park in the bustling city, opposite the City Council Building, and on the side is the traffic-like Highway 101. This is the Huamei Museum in Los Angeles, and it also witnessed the history of Chinese people's struggle for more than 150 years. On December 18, 2003, after 19 years of long and difficult preparations, the Huamei Museum finally opened its doors to the people.

There are many popular landmarks around here, such as old Pico House and Ovila Street, but the American Chinese Museum also has a place here, which is located in the Garnier Building, built in 1890, and is the oldest representative Chinese-style building in Southern California. The museum is not only in a great location, but also carries many memories of Chinatown. The museum is free to visit, but donations are also very welcome. As you walk down the narrow corridors of this historic building, the glory of the Founding Fathers seems to have come alive from the relics, the wall paintings, the sound of old Chinatown. Today, Chinatown has grown to cover most of the San Gabriel Valley, but here is the source of all this development.
