Ferry : For those who intend to go to Mackinac Island must first commute through Mackinac city, and take a ferry to the island. There are ferry services every day and the journey takes around 20 minutes. You can buy the tickets at the ferry terminal; most tickets are for both ways and do take note not to lose your tickets.
Scenic Mackinac Island is a haven for summer vacation. Till today, it still retains its 19th century way of life. No motor vehicles of any kind are permitted within the island; while the horse drawn carts are of prevalence here. The round island highway M-185 is the only American highway that does not allow motor vehicles on it. Mackinac Island used to be a British colony and many colonial era buildings are preserved till today. Strolling through the city and streets of shops and restaurants in the evening, the rustic feel lends to the whole place an air of laxness. Some of the things to do; rent a bicycle or a horse cart to tour the island; taste the white fish and enjoy the dessert fudge; mount up to Mackinac castle to view the scenery of the island. Appreciate the uniqueness of this placid little island.
