Introduction
The Fuente de Cibeles is a renowned fountain in the piece of Madrid alluded to as he Paseo de Recoletos. The fountain was charged by King Carlos III in 1777 and delineates the goddess Cibeles driving a carriage drawn by lions. The fountain was done in 1782. The goddess and chariot are crafted by Francisco Gutierrez, while the lions are crafted by Roberto Michel. The first site of the fountain was beside the Buenavista Palace however in the late nineteenth century the fountain was moved to its present area. The fountain is of uncommon significance to the fanatics of the Real Madrid soccer team who gather close it to praise their team's triumphs.

Plaza de Cibeles is my favorite plaza in Madrid - between the beautiful buildings (the Palacio de las Comunicaciones), La Castellana (the famous tree-lined paseo) and the view of the Puerta de Alcala, it's the intersection of some of the best sights in Madrid. If you happen to be in town for a Real Madrid win, head here as it also happens to be where Madrileños go to celebrate those big wins!
