A welcome refuge during a typhoon. Impressive stone facade. Packed full of hard pews. A good spot to contemplate or indeed pray.
Quite frankly, there’s nothing really special, mind-blowing or unique about Malate Church. Still, it can be a lovely stop, especially if you’re into vintage churches. With its baroque architecture, the church can give you a few Instagrammable snaps too. As an added bonus, the church exudes a rather peaceful ambiance.
Before leaving for Manila, the Philippines, my biggest worry is of course the security issue. But it is rare to come to the Catholic country, the Philippines, of course, to have a pilgrimage to the Catholic church! That is the most unique church, and Is it safer to come at night? In the end, I chose Malate Church next to Lake Manila in the center of Manila. When I came to this church, I happened to encounter a weekday mass. After the mass, I walked forward and said to the priest, Hello, I am from Hong Kong and I came to Marani for a trip. The priest said to me that you are a woman who came to Marani, are you afraid? There are many thieves on the street, you have to be extra careful, and also for me in the Philippines Pray for a safe journey. Even the priest who lives in Manila told me nervously, believing that I must be more vigilant when I go out.
This small church is not too big for the churches in Manila, but it has a history of hundreds of years, and the church is worth seeing whether it is architecture or decoration. This is a place where many locals choose to come for baptism.
This is a small and exquisite church. Its façade is worth watching carefully. It has a century-old sculpture, very exquisite, and the interior is very compact. There are some religious artworks, and many people come.
