Manzhouli Matryoshka Scenic Area Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Manzhouli, it's like stepping into a fairy tale world
Friends in my circle asked me if I had gone abroad, and then I realized I had gone to Hulunbuir, a place that can retain the time and years.
When everyone thought that the wonderful scenery here was just the grassland scenery, the fairy tale town of Manzhouli was the first to stand up and 'disagree'. Its candy-colored architectural design is eye-catching, as if stepping into a fairy tale world.
Here, you can feel the precipitation of time, and you can also appreciate the dreamlike fairy tale. Hulunbuir, a place that makes people linger, is waiting for you to explore its endless charm!

Off-season Exclusive Amusement Park (Manzhouli)
Essentially, it's an amusement park with nesting dolls as its IP. The highlight is various performances, and the standard facilities like roller coasters and bumper cars are quite ordinary, barely reaching the average level of mainstream amusement parks. It's a pity that there are no performances during the off-season, and the ticket prices are much cheaper. Currently, only three attractions are available for visitors, which are the Dome Flying Cinema, Russian Folklore Experience Hall, and Nesting Doll Experience Hall.
The latter two are basically just fillers, with the Folklore Hall mostly consisting of pictures, and the ultimate goal of the Nesting Doll Hall is to get you shopping
The only attraction that is worth the ticket price is the Dome Cinema. This project is quite impressive, offering an eagle's eye view to experience the border landscapes of China, Mongolia, and Russia, as well as their landmark buildings. It intersperses typical landforms at the junction of the three countries, allowing visitors to soar through grasslands, lakes, and forests. It boasts a 6D experience, with seats like in picture 6. After the film starts, the seats move along a track inside the dome cinema, providing simulated gravity effects such as acceleration, diving, spinning, and tilting, along with physical sensations like wind and vibration. Especially when returning to the downtown area of Manzhouli at the beginning of the night, the phrase 'Above there is heaven, below there are Suzhou and Hangzhou, but Manzhouli's lights are more brilliant ' unconsciously pops into your mind, and a strong sense of national pride emerges
In my opinion, the ticket price of 50 yuan is reasonable. Similar dome cinema projects in other scenic spots definitely cost more than this, and being able to stroll at will in the world of nesting dolls, immerse yourself in a fairy-tale-like castle, take photos, daydream, and bask in the sun, is surely better than smoking a box of Zhonghua cigarettes

🌈 Hulunbuir travel tips:
▪️ What to wear: You can wear doll dresses, lolita style skirts, which are very suitable for the fairy tale temperament here, khaki trench coats and denim blue also fit the city's color tone
▪️ How to get there: Manzhouli has its own airport, if you only want to visit Manzhouli you can fly directly to this airport;
However, it's rare to visit Hulunbuir, so like most people, I flew to Hailar Airport and then arranged a 5-7 day joint tour from Hailar to Manzhouli, grasslands, forests, wetlands, rivers, cliffs, fairy tale villages, castle-shaped cities all in one go, it's recommended to rent an off-road vehicle, you can also visit some niche free attractions
▪️ Where to stay: Matryoshka Hotel (most fairy tale-themed colors), Manzhouli Hotel (century-old Russian theme, good location)
Manzhouli also has many affordable accommodations, but the price difference between the off-peak and peak seasons is quite large, ranging from 100-1000+ in various styles and specifications, however, if you book a chartered car tour, accommodation is generally included, so you don't have to worry about it
▪️ Special souvenirs: Russian chocolate, Inner Mongolian milk candy, dried meat, milk skins, and other dairy products

Manchuria Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Manzhouli City is located in the hinterland of Hulunbuir Prairie in Inner Mongolia. It is bordered by Xing'anling in the east, Hulun Lake in the south, Mongolia in the west and Russia in the north. It is the largest border crossing port in China. Due to its border with Russia, the city has a strong Russian atmosphere.
Manzhouli City houses are all buildings with Russian elements (Russian and European architectural style). When you come to Manchuria, you will experience the exotic atmosphere, as if you are in a small town in a European country.
This city is separated from Russia by only one country, so Russians are often seen on the streets of this city. At present, almost every building in Manzhouli City has more or less Russian style, with spires and colorful colors.
When the night is bleak, with the night of the night, the cool night wind, anything can be thought of, everything can be set, and gently sucked In one breath, the mind and body are very comfortable.
Tonight, I am ups and downs with your light waves, so high, so far, I am a little excited, your neon, burning has become my inner flame .
Tonight, all about your dreams, made like wish, beautiful and illusory, in the fast flashing and changing, your charm, quietly intoxicated / hc /
/ hc /
Tonight, the fleeting beauty is eternal; tonight, I am willing to be the rolling Yangtze River; you indulge in my heart, we are in harmony, waiting for the sound of the night, playing the sound of the dawn.
wuqiuhuang.
This is a very exotic side town, towering spires, round domes, stout Roman columns, woodcuts in the town, billboards in Chinese, Mongolian and Russian. These are all saying that this is A border town.
Walk in the streets of Manchuria, you can see the churches and buildings in the sky, or the magnificent, elegant and chic, in addition to the European style of architecture, they have one thing in common - DuPont Onion head.
also remembers to study the architectural features of different periods in Europe when traveling in Europe. One of the funny words is quite interesting: East Rome, also the Byzantine Empire, in order to distinguish the difference from West Rome, The hat on the top of the house was changed from a semi-circle to an onion top, while the Russians on the east side particularly liked to eat onions. They felt that one was not enough and they put a pot.
Of course, the above is just a joke. The real reason is that after the Byzantine Empire split from ancient Rome, it gradually merged with the essence of many civilizations, including ancient Rome, ancient Greece and Arabia. The round hat dome is the representative of it. Russia is a deadly loyalty to the Byzantine culture. After all, the Russian Orthodox Church was passed from Byzantium. Then the Russians especially loved the onions... Oh no, it was inspired by the flames of the candles. You see the purple gold domes on the Orthodox Church with dazzling golden light. Its not the one that is lit by God in the world. Candle?

Summer trip | Manchuria niche attractions recommended
a grassland 7km from the city, you can take a yurt.
In fact, the city and the city are similar. If you want to find a grassland, there is no such thing in the urban area. You can only go far. We went to two places, one is the grassland that passes by Hulunbeier Lake, and the other is the airport road.
Mongolian According to local people, because of the destruction of the grassland, 10,000 yurts were dismantled. So instead of running far away to the depths of the grassland, you can only go to some special hotel tribes. We originally planned to go to the Tianjiao Mongolian Camp from the urban area (the road to go to the airport). As a result, a tribe was found in the middle of the road, and it was taken directly here.
In addition to the featured yurts, there are sheep, camels and prayer bags.
Ni_Leichu.
If you ask where Hulunbeier is the most lively, the night view of Manchuria is the most important. It is like a visit to a big city in Europe, with colorful lights. Talk about the busyness of this small town.
Eat a Western food in Manchuria. I really thought it was abroad. In the restaurant, I can see Russians from time to time, and there are performances at night. On the scene is a tall, handsome Russian man, who will soon look at the paper girl next to him, have the ability to let go of the girl!
Manzhouli is very famous, the Russian Matryoshka Square, the most beautiful night here, but it is obviously more than 8 o'clock. Why did you close the door, with a little regret, took a few photos outside, and when you look outside, you know that the night scene inside will be more beautiful.
Since the Russian Matryoshka Square can't be seen, Liu Jie proposed to take us around the night view of Manzhouli, which is also a make up for the Matryoshka Square. Regrettably, Manzhouli, as a Sino-Russian border city, has a unique Russian landscape.

The White Cliffs of England? I'm just watching the sea on the Hulunbuir grasslands
Legend has it that there was a carefree couple in the Mongolian tribe on the grasslands, the woman named Hulun, who was outstanding in both talent and beauty, and the man named Beier, who was good at riding and archery.
However, there was always evil coveting beauty and destroying the grasslands. Hulun was abducted, and Beier fought against the evil to save Hulun at all costs.
Alas, the evil was too powerful, and Hulun turned into a vast lake to drown the enemies, while Beier, in deep grief, also transformed into a lake to eternally guard by Hulun's side. This is the origin of today's Hulun Lake and Beier Lake.
This is also why the name Hulunbuir sounds so appealing.
There's no need to go abroad to experience the romantic white cliffs and the azure lakes.
It turns out you can also see the sea in Hulunbuir!
I just came back from Inner Mongolia and have compiled a super detailed guide to Hulunbuir.
I'll answer any questions you have, see you in the comments section.
✈️ Fly directly to Hailar Airport (Hailar is usually cheaper than Manzhouli)
🚅 Direct train to Hailar Station
D1: Hailar - Crossing the grasslands - Morin Dawa Daur Autonomous Banner (scenery like computer wallpapers, herds of cattle and sheep along the way) - Cliff - Ergun Wetland Park - Ergun
D2: Ergun - Birch Forest - Enhe Russian Township - Shiwei
D3: Shiwei - Reindeer Park - Heishantou (also known as Kaxian: The most beautiful border road)
D4: Heishantou - Matryoshka Square - National Gate - Manzhouli
D5: Manzhouli - Hulun Lake - Hailar
❗️❗️❗️Note:
During the daily itinerary, there are many scenic spots along the way, all exceeding expectations. Stop and take pictures whenever you like, there's no need to stick to a certain spot, just enjoy the journey.
🔖 The weather on the Inner Mongolia grasslands is unpredictable, with large temperature differences between day and night, so bring warm and windproof clothing.
🔖 If possible, prepare walkie-talkies, as there is no signal on the grasslands when taking photos at a distance, to protect your voice.
🔖 Pay attention to sun protection!
🔖 Sunrise at four o'clock, sunset at eight o'clock, the sunset and afterglow last for a long time.
🔖 Scenic spots generally charge a fee, ranging from 10-100 yuan. Bring your student ID, horse riding costs 100-300 yuan, holding a sheep around 100 yuan, grass sliding 100 yuan, reindeer 60-100 yuan.
🔖 If you need to cross the grasslands, many scenic spots within the grasslands are not navigable by maps, the grasslands are too vast, and many places have no mobile signal❗️❗️❗️For first-timers, it is recommended to hire a car with a tour guide to play, the cost is not expensive, and local drivers are very familiar with the scenic spots, making eating, living, and playing more worry-free.

Lake Hulun
Lake Hulun, also known as Hulun Pool, Dalai Lake, Dalai Nor, means 'a lake like the sea' in Mongolian. Historically, it has been called Dazao, Julunbo, Kuolian Haizi, Hutuze, Xuanmo Pool, Kuleng Lake, etc. Lake Hulun belongs to the lake basin of the Erguna River, located between the New Barag Right Banner, New Barag Left Banner, and Jalainur District in the western part of the Hulun Buir grassland in Inner Mongolia. It is an irregular oblong shape, with the long axis from southwest to northeast. The lake is 93 kilometers long, with a maximum width of 41 kilometers, an average width of 32 kilometers, a circumference of 447 kilometers, a total area of 2,315 square kilometers, a maximum depth of 8 meters, an average depth of 5.7 meters, and a storage capacity of 13.85 billion cubic meters. It is the largest lake in Inner Mongolia.
The surface water system of Lake Hulun consists of Lake Hulun, Halaha River, Beier Lake, Wuerxun River, Kerulen River, Xinkai River, and the Dalan-Ero River that connects Lake Hulun with the Erguna River. The total basin area (domestic part) is 37,214 square kilometers. The Kerulen River and Wuerxun River are the main supply rivers, while the Xinkai River and Dalan-Ero River are the main regulating rivers.
The Lake Hulun area is the main birthplace of many nomadic nations in the north, such as the Donghu, Xiongnu, Xianbei, Shiwei, Huihu, Tujue, Khitan, Jurchen, Mongols, and other ethnic groups that once thrived here.
Located in the hinterland of the Hulun Buir grassland, Lake Hulun is known as the 'Pearl of the Grassland' and the 'Kidney of the Grassland.' It holds a special position in regional ecological and environmental protection, playing a very important role in maintaining the biodiversity of the Hulun Buir grassland and its rich animal and plant resources. Lake Hulun and its surrounding water system were listed in the Ramsar Convention's international important wetlands directory in January 2002, and in November 2002, it was approved to join the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

·
❌Group tour: (Bus) Early departure, bad group meals, easily taken to shopping spots, unexpected forced consumption, terrible experience
✅Chartered car travel: High freedom, start after waking up🚘 Stop anytime you see beautiful scenery, the driver is also a photographer📸, luggage handler🎒, and a local live map🗺, allowing adults to relax
✅Self-driving: Plan your route in advance, download offline navigation🧭, stick to asphalt roads❌ Do not cross herders' pastures at will‼️ Pay attention to speed limits on border highway 331⛔️, and watch out for cattle, horses, and sheep that may appear at night🐑
== === === Bring a small stool === === ==
⁉️What to avoid on a Hulunbuir trip⁉️
✅🌟About chartered cars: 👉If the driver asks you for a crossing fee or car wash fee, refuse and contact the business🙆♂️, because if your itinerary includes crossing, the travel agency has definitely paid the driver enough‼️ There's no such thing as asking for a car wash fee from the customer after crossing, just refuse❌
✅🌟About drivers: 👉Between a good driver and a good car, a good driver is more important🙋♂️ Most SUVs can handle the Hulunbuir circuit, but a considerate driver is the soul of the entire trip
✅🌟About prices: 👉Price determines quality👍 Some quotes are expensive because they include more items, better hotels, and different accommodations; cheap quotes usually only include one entrance ticket, and you have to pay extra for activities inside💰. In fact, many entertainment activities are free of admission‼️ Or they don't include some core items, such as expensive tickets for Matryoshka Square and Horse Dance‼️
✅🌟About routes: 👉If you are traveling with children and the elderly, the popular classic routes can fully satisfy your imagination of the grasslands without being bumpy or too long, and a daily distance of 100+ kilometers can be easily managed; niche crossing routes are comparatively bumpy, and children and the elderly are more likely to get carsick, and there are also higher requirements for the type of vehicle.
✅🌟About prices: 👉What suits you is the best~ Off-season 3K+, peak season 4K+ is a moderate price for a 6-day Hulunbuir circuit, any lower and the hotel quality may be worrying, more expensive ones include high-end hotels~ Choose based on your accommodation requirements
✅🌟About timing: 👉In early May, Hulunbuir is still in a state of strong winds, while in late May, the grass starts to sprout shallowly; 👍June offers the best value for money💐 with wildflowers everywhere, low prices, and fewer people; July-August is the peak season for grassland tourism, with more people and higher prices, but it's the most beautiful time on the Hulunbuir grasslands~ Worth having✨

1 The temperature difference between morning and evening is large, you need to bring a coat, as well as long clothes and trousers
2 The hotel price increase during the tourist season is exaggerated, it is recommended to stay in a youth hostel for a few tens of dollars, and prepare private items (such as towels, slippers, hangers, etc.)
3 Due to the long distance in Inner Mongolia and unstable weather, you need to prepare heavy luggage, it is recommended to bring a 29-inch oversized suitcase out-Meitu Fat Box.

Manzhouli Travel Guide: The Sino-Russian border port that you must visit in this lifetime
📍Manzhouli National Gate Scenic Area
Address: Nine kilometers west of Manzhouli city
Ticket: 128rmb
The railway national gate is generally recommended for check-in. In fact, you can pass the highway port on the way to the railway national gate, and it seems that the vehicles on the other end of the road are from Russia. The development of the national gate scenic area in Manzhouli is much better than that in Yanji Tumen. There is a special passenger center. Although the ticket sales for convenience, I bought an electronic ticket and seemed to miss the 47th floor to see the three countries from a high place. (I bought a ticket of 128 by scanning the code, and the driver told me the next day that it included the ticket to the high building, but I didn't know so I didn't go up 233)
After buying the ticket and entering the security check, walk close to the railway national gate. The building also looks quite majestic. As soon as I entered, a freight train roared past, loading a large amount of goods to the Chita region of Russia.
Although there is no elevator in the national gate building, you can go up the stairs and stand inside to watch the Chinese railway and Russian railway on both sides of the national gate. After coming down from the national gate, you can also go to see the boundary monument next to it. Because I didn't bring an umbrella and it suddenly rained, I didn't continue to check in. I could only hurry back to the Matryoshka Hotel to get an umbrella and go to the next destination.
