The fort of the castle in Essaouira is an ancient building with more than 800 years of history. In ancient times, it was an important fortress guarding coastal defense. It is also a famous attraction on the so-called La Beach. There are remains of the fort on the castle, and the view is very wide. It is the best place to appreciate Essaouira Beach.
Arrived at 4 pm and was told to close at 4.30, so I could only rush in to visit. Fortunately, the place is very small. Although the fee is 50, you can see the whole view of the medina, see HNA, and of course seagulls in groups.
Essaouira was an important part of coastal defense in the past, and beside the fishing port of Essaouira is the famous castle. The castle still has a fort from more than 100 years ago, and the cannons are facing the port, which is very powerful. Standing on the fort, you can overlook the entire port of Essaouira, the scenery is very beautiful.
The defensive soil wall is a part of the city wall and is used to protect Medina. They are wide walls with towers that you can climb up; there are beautiful views of the old port and fish market, hundreds of blue fishing boats and so on. The sea breeze here is usually gentle.
The castle fort is close to the fishing port on the west side of the old city. Every morning and evening, when the fishing boat returns, there are a large number of seabirds, which is very spectacular. And here is also the filming location of Astapo, the city of Slave Bay in Game of Thrones.
