What people are saying:

It is usually deserted and can be socially distancing from the people in nearby parks. Some celebrities are here to show what will happen to all of us in the end. The cemetery opened in 1853 and is located south of Carlton and 2 kilometers north of Melbourne's Central Business District (CBD), covering an area of 43 hectares. Since the opening, about 1 million people have been buried, including four prime ministers (the grave is the gravestone of Prime Minister Harold Holt) and other places of great importance. Although you may not be the first place to visit, it is worth a visit if you are interested in history.

    A quiet walk

It is usually very deserted here and one can have a socially distanced walk away from the crowds in the nearby parks. Some famous people are here, showing what happens to all of us eventually.

    Beautiful gravestones

I love walking around old cemeteries to see the beautiful carved stone work that we lack today. The decrepit run down tombs also add an eerie ambiance to these seldom visited sites.
