You must have planned for Europe tour many a time! It requires a lot of budgets, and it happens to cancel every time because of this. But if you somehow make it to Europe, Belarus is a must-visit. Belarus is a landlocked country in Europe whose capital city is Minsk. It is bordered by Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Latvia. Over 40% of Belarus is the forest, and so you get to visit the dense forest and lie in the lap of nature.
The earliest historical references to Minsk date to the 11th century (1067), when it was noted as a provincial city within the Principality of Polotsk. The settlement developed on the rivers. In 1242, Minsk became part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It received town privileges in 1499.
From 1569, it was a capital of the Minsk Voivodeship, in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. It was part of a region annexed by the Russian Empire in 1793, as a consequence of the Second Partition of Poland. From 1919 to 1991, after the Russian Revolution, Minsk was the capital of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, in the Soviet Union.
## Finally set foot in the last country in Europe, Belarus. When staying at the Minsk Marriott Hotel, we were upgraded to a free suite and woke up to watch the sunrise on the large balcony. There are many small sculptures throughout the hotel, the restaurant is rustic, beef and mushrooms are very good. The river view room is only required to exchange 12,500 points. Walking on the central avenue of Minsk, the capital of White Rose, it feels like an open, empty, and stylish street, but it is a bit deserted, with few pedestrians. At the National Mall at the end of the avenue, the buildings around it are magnificent. There are government, churches, universities, and the square is still empty. Figure 1 3:5 is the former KGB headquarters, whether it is a part of history or not, there is a small square opposite, still stands the statue of the founder of the KGB predecessor, Cheerzhinsky (Figure 4).
