The Red Square, in the center of Moscow, next to the Moskva River, is the oldest square in Moscow. It is a witness to major historical events and is certainly worth visiting. The Red Square is about 695 meters long from north to south and 130 meters wide from east to west. It is an irregular rectangle. The ground is paved with ancient stones and the area is not as large as Tiananmen Square. To the north of the Red Square is the Russian National History Museum, to the east is the Moscow State Department Store, and to the south is the Church of Vasily Ascension. On the west side are the red walls of the Lenin Mausoleum and the Kremlin, and three high towers. There is a rostrum on the upper level of the Lenin Mausoleum. Whenever important Russian ceremonies, leaders stand on Lenin’s tomb to observe the military parade. You should visit here. It is recommended to visit the surrounding area for half a day.
The Red Square in Moscow.. wow! I've always wanted to go to this place and when I finally did I made the best out of the experience. The whole atmosphere was just so inviting. The weather was good during that time of summer when I was there and seeing the cathedrals and the architecture behind the buildings blew my mind. They tell the history of Russia from one point to the next whereever I went. In the Red Square is the St. Basil's Cathedral, The Kremlin, The State Historical Museum among others. Many tourists from all across the world come in their numbers to share in the great historical memories among beautiful sights that this incredibly beautiful place has to offer. If anyone of you out there happen to be in Moscow, this is definitely a must go place. ( I know I went ).
