About Munich

Munich is the third largest city in Germany. It is also the capital city of Bavaria. The city is covered with natural greenery. It has gorgeous Rococo architecture and a cozy atmosphere. Munich is bright with the afterglow of the former Bavarian kingdom. Marienplatz, the central square in the heart of the city, is surrounded by many gorgeous buildings and it is impossible for people to do anything other than admire its grandeur and style. This place also has a number of delicious local specialties. The tasty beer served by the liter, roast pork knuckle (Schweinshaxe) and white sausage (Weisswurst) are some good examples. On most days, you can sit in a small restaurant or Biergarten drinking beer and eating delicious food. Every year at the end of September, however, the traditional Oktoberfest and the whole city is transformed into a magnificent weeks-long carnival.

For hundreds of years, the Royal Beer House has become an ideal place for celebrity politicians to meet, and Princess Sissi, Goethe, and Lenin have been guests of the Royal Beer House. The Royal Brasserie is a white building that steps into the main entrance. The first thing that catches the eye is the souvenir shop, which sells beer-related peripheral products.

If you want to get a true picture of German sports culture, make sure you stop at the Allianz Arena just north of Munich. Here, you can cheer your favorite team on as part of a crowd of 69,901. As you visit, try to remember the 2006 World Cup matches that were held here, back when it was called the FIFA World Cup Stadium Munich, as those were some of the first major matches held there. Even if you brought your family, rest assured you can still visit: the stadium has three day-care centers. You can buy numerous souvenir items, too, at the two fan shops and numerous merchandise kiosks.
