It is the first western style castle in Japan was built in l855. It is designated as special historical site today. After that you can viit goryokaku Tower which is beautiful star-shaped construstion of Goryokaku, can go up to the observatory and view from the top.

The seasons of Goryokaku are different. In spring, you can see the maple leaves in autumn and the white snow in winter. Climbing to the top of Goryokaku Tower and looking down, it is exactly in the shape of a five-pointed star, and it looks even more beautiful with the next white snow. After visiting Goryokaku Tower, there is a souvenir shop downstairs where you can buy souvenirs, such as Goryokaku's fridge magnets.

Came here specifically for the Japanese cherry blossoms in New Year, Hokkaido just opened at 51, the time is still quite good. But in March, I had already seen the 10,000 mu cherry blossoms in Pingba, Guizhou, and I was shocked. Looking at the pictures on the Internet, I think Goryokaku’s cherry blossoms should not be better than Pingba. But it was still amazing. Although the number of Goryokaku is average, each cherry blossom grows very lush and strong. In addition, the Japanese cherry trees are well pruned, and Goryokaku's unique shape makes them very beautiful. It is really worth coming to enjoy the cherry blossoms. And the Japanese like to grill under the cherry trees.

Goryokaku Park is a star-shaped fortress castle built in the Edo period. It was the first castle in Japan built with a Western architecture. There is also a Goryokaku Tower outside the park, which can overlook the whole view of Goryokaku Park. The shape of the five-pointed star is clearly visible, and the city of Hakodate can be seen in the distance.
