What people are saying:

There are far fewer tourists going to Oyunuma than Jigokudani, so it is much quieter. I haven't seen the lake from afar, and I can feel its heat. The mist rises high and the area is huge. However, Oyunuma is an intermittent hot spring, and it does not always get hot, so we just saw the time when it sprayed hot water. There were a lot of signs on the shore. It was very hot. Don't get close. Anyone who is a little rational will not stretch out his hand when he sees such hot water. It is really hot, no joke.

    Pretty lake

You can walk here from Jigokudani. It's a nice, easy walk to take. The lake is quite pretty, and worth a visit if you are in this area.

    Nature’s beauty

I noticed some deers walked around the crater lake last May but there is no more for my visit this October. However, it is so beautiful and the autumn leaves decorated the lake in an artistic way.

Up close with the sulphur pool

Prob the largest sulphur pool in the area. U can get really up close with it and enjoy the mystical feel in that area.

    Impressive view

We took two paths to get to the pond - one was a more strenuous hiking trail and the other was the driving road. Both paths are highlighted on the maps scattered across Hell Valley. For those unable t...

Additional Information

The Oyunuma Pond is the crater of the bursting crater formed by the fire in the Japanese and the mountain. The sulphur spring of about 130 degrees is sprayed at the bottom of the pond. It is the source of hot spring water for the local hot spring hotels. A circle around the lake, in addition to smelling the sulphur smell, you can also see the source of hot spring foaming at any time, especially the floating yellow spheroidal sulfur on the lake is particularly conspicuous. There is also a natural foot bath next to the Oyunuma Pond.
