The temple is very quiet. As soon as you stepped into the gate, you saw the Jintang, and almost all of the visitors were locals.
Not to be confused with Todai-ji, this temple looks fairly similar although it is located on the outskirts of the city. This area was once considered central to Nara and played a significant role in the city's history. Many buildings possess National Treasures and are photogenic. There are far less people here than other temples in Nara which is also a plus.
In the year 759 of the Western calendar, this place was bestowed by the Tang Dynasty monk Jianzhen from China and built the Tangzhao Ti Temple. Zhaoti means a dojo where you practiced beside the Buddha. The name of the temple means that this temple was built for the monk Jianzhen from the Tang Dynasty to practice here. Toshodai Temple was finally built when Jianzhen was 71 years old. Master Jianzhen went through hardships to travel east to Japan in order to preach Buddhism. However, due to the poor conditions at the time, the first five times were unsuccessful. But the master did not give up. At the age of 65 and blind in both eyes, he finally managed to reach Dongying for the sixth time. It is really amazing! His life is a legend in capital. The architecture here completely follows the style of the Tang Dynasty, but there is no such a well-preserved Tang Dynasty architecture in China. Therefore, whether it is to cherish the memory of the master or the architecture of the Tang Dynasty, it is worth visiting here. The white Kalan is particularly clean and beautiful. Maybe it’s a bit far from the center of Nara, and it’s not a check-in spot for the tour group, so there are very few visitors. The temple of Noordai can only hear the birds chirping quietly! Sitting quietly here for a while, I feel my soul has been purified! Master Jianzhen preached and spread Dharma here, and passed away here. Passing through a boulevard is the resting place of Monk Jianzhen. There are dense trees and the environment is very quiet and elegant! A layer of verdant "carpet" is spread under the towering trees, very beautiful! Several viburnum trees are also planted around the cemetery. It is said that the viburnum is the famous flower in Yangzhou, the hometown of Jianzhen. The biggest surprise of this trip is to leave Toshodai Temple, turn left, walk along the road at the entrance of the temple, and soon you will see a small river. Walking along the river to the bus station, the idyllic scenery along the way, coupled with the cherry blossoms, is as beautiful as a painting! So, if you have a chance to go to Toshodai Temple, you must go out for a walk!
It was built by the monk Jianzhen in the Tang Dynasty, it’s very beautiful
Toshoti Temple was in the ancient capital of Nara. The great Tang monk, Master Jianzhen, set up a monastery for learning the commandments in 759 and passed away. The location is remote, there are few tourists, the maple is red and the moss is green, it is pure and far-reaching, it is a foreign country, remembering the ancients, and the architecture of the Tang Dynasty is worth seeing. In the suburban area, the group can't reach this place.
