Neijiang is situated in the southeast of Sichuan province. It neighbors Chongqing to the east, Meishan to the northwest and Ziyang to the north. Known as China's 'sugar capital', it produces a large amount of sugar and cotton. Neijiang is also the hometown of the 20th Century painter Zhang Daqian. The Zhang Daqian Memorial is one of the city's major attractions. Other popular destinations include Mount Baiyun, Jingan Temple and the ancient town of Luoquan. Longchang Memorial Stone Archways lie in Longchang County, Neijiang City. There are 17 stone archways, most of which were built in the periods of Dao Guang, Xian Feng, Tong Zhi, Guang Xu in the Qing Dynasty. Each stone archway has its own story, reflecting history, and cultural presence. Among them, "Guo-Wang Merits and Virtues Archway" is fairy outstanding. Daqian Garden is located in Neijiang City, on the bank of the Tuo River, across the river from Dazhou Square. Guyu Lake is by Donglongchang County in Neijiang City, about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) from the town. It is a medium-sized artificial lake built in the 1970s. The scenic area includes the Geese Cave Waterfall, the Ancient Group of Archways, Yunfeng Pass, Yunding Village, Yunding Field, Shengdeng Mountain and Guyu Lake. There are many islands and peninsulas at Guyu Lake. In winter, it becomes a paradise for migrating birds. Many people come here to birdwatch.
Chonglong Mountain is located in the northeast of the city. There are many monuments on the mountain, as well as many famous inscriptions from as early as the Tang Dynasty. Yongqing Temple has preserved quite a few of the inscriptions. The monument of Huang Tingjian's "Youlan Fu" is the rare treasure. Many tourists come here just to see this piece. At the top of Chonglong Mountain, visitors can see an expanse of counties and cities from afar.
