The shape of this lighthouse is very special, more like a small building. Lake Pontchartrain originally had a canal leading to the city center. Later, the canal was filled, and the lighthouse still penetrates into the center of the lake, equivalent to a trestle bridge. It is now a small museum.
The lighthouse stretches out in the center of the river, and there is a marina around it, with beautiful small boats moored, and the scenery is great!

You can pass this on the Lake Front around Landry's Seafood, very nice structure, it was damaged badly during Hurricane Katrina, but restored after and looking very nice.
Sadly I didn’t get to see if you can go in, but this is a pretty lighthouse on the shoreline of lake ponchatraine. Lots of folks exercising, taking a stroll or just enjoying the area.
