The appetizers alone gives me reason to come back here! It's Amazing! Truffled Steak Tartare is my absolute fave!
In NYC financial district for work. Stayed at the Hampton Inn on Pearl Street which is a 4 min walk to Harry's. Granted, Harry's is a challenge to locate with a below sidewalk entry but the 3 people I stopped to ask all knew where it was. A neighborhood institution. Ask for a table near the windows so you can people watch while you eat. It's fun. The atmosphere feels upscale and refined but it is relaxed with couples and business people. However, I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing shorts or flip flops here. The servers are well mannered and are top notch professionals. They serve food and drinks, replace silverware at changes in settings, and even repositioned my placemat when it went askew. We started off with the oysters which were amazing. 2nd time I had oysters. Also had the baby shrimp bisque while was ok - needed a bit of something to spice it up a notch. My meal was a monkfish special on a bed of vegetables. This was delicious but I wish I thought to ask for a side of potatoes. Other guy in our party had the tuna which was a sizable portion. Third guy had the filet mignon which was SO tender. Wrapped it up with a creme brûlée and a cappuccino martini. Both were divine but the creme brûlée was room temperature, not cold like you would expect. Summary - Harry's is definitely a gem in the on the edge of the financial district. Servers were impeccable. It does get a wee bit noisy in there but manageable. I'll remember this place for my next visit in the area.
Last night we came in only for desserts! My favorite is the lava chocolate cake and the bread pudding.
Stopped in to meet friends and exchange holiday gifts. The bloody Mary's were nice and spicy but could use some extra garnishments (they are served traditional style). The tuna tartare was delicious. For our main dishes we had the Hanover steak sandwich and the two handed blt both were exceptional.
Weekend brunch - unlimited bellinis (grapefruit is best) and the best eggs benedict anywhere south of 14th. HUGE portions. Get the canadian bacon eggs benedict!! Fast for a week before and after :-)
The sausage is good for pizza toppings. Beware though, half and full toppings cost the same. Mushrooms also a great topping. Dough used to be better.
The service was excellent. I had the lamb burger which was perfectly cooked. The warm chocolate cake, I would return for that alone!
The mimosas are truly endless! They take reservations too - and the food is delicious!!
Misty is great bartender. I see from other posts that he is a legend and I agree. Great Personality/banter and very efficient.
Make sure to order the Bloody Mary, one of the best. It's got a splash of pickle juice and Old Bay seasoning mixed in.
