My expectations were indeed adjusted substantially and positively. Nothing against Minton&#39;s mind you, I just didn&#39;t think the jazz bar, speakeasy thing was going to be all that. I expected a mediocre experience, at best. Well I&#39;m now evangelizing for Minton&#39;s. I&#39;ve told everyone in and on the way to NYC that they have to make a visit to Minton&#39;s. It really is one of Harlem&#39;s best spots. First off, if you can organize yourself to get there on a night when Alyson Williams is singing. Alyson and her band are fantastic; real professionals. And then there is the food. My meal went like this. Pan roasted scallops with okra and yams. Gumbo as my main dish. And a fruit cobbler for dessert. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. My only admonition is that going to Minton&#39;s is not going to be an inexpensive night out. Prices are comparable for NYC and for the new Harlem; which mean don&#39;t leave home without a plastic card or a wad of cash. Highly recommend Minton&#39;s!

Spent an evening In this place. Very fine wine and food . Good desert and latte. Service was outstanding. Very close to the Aloft in Harlem. Train station very near.

On a recent trip to NYC I visited several jazz clubs, and this one was definitely the classiest. The salmon was excellent, and so was the local Harlem-brewed beer that I tried (several times LOL). The restaurant was nicely decorated, I assume to its former glory. The cover charge of $25 was reasonable considering the excellent quality of the music - one of my favorite jazz bands &quot;Elevations&quot;. There was nothing &quot;seedy&quot; about this night club - great for a date night, although I was flying solo that night. Good acoustics, definitely would go back.

Listen to me...this is a good restaurant, with great jazz, and the history to back it up. The first course was divine. The tuna tartare tasty, fresh, and just enough crunch when eaten with the chips. The service left a bit to be desired. First, the waiter failed to bring my wife&#39;s cocktail. Then he had to come back to the table and tell us they sold out of biscuits. Even Cracker Barrel never sells out of biscuits, you just have to wait until they can make more. Even if you are the last table on Christmas Eve. So selling out of biscuits started and missing the wife&#39;s cocktail, that&#39;s too big strikes out of the gate. We got the burger and the pork porterhouse. Both very good. Not outstanding, one of the greatest meals we have ever eaten...very good. The cocktails were excellent. The first course excellent. The ambiance and performance excellent. The main course very good. The service was ok with a few big misses. I&#39;m not sure what was so important to that guy, but I think the picture gives you a feel for the club. Great to visit, would need a strong reason to head back up there.
