Jigokudani (Hell Valley) Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Best Onsen at Jigokudani Hell Valley
We too JR train at 4.06pm from Sapporo to continue our journey to Hell Valley on 26th Dec 2022. There is a bus service in between Hell Valley and Noboribetsu JR Stn which takes around 20mins.
Checked-in Takimoto Inn Hotel. It cost us around SGD150 per night. The main purpose to book this hotel is to enjoy their onsen both indoor and outdoor. There is an additional 300 yen fee for using their onsen. It was a unique experience in taking onsen. ☺️And yes, it was really relaxing.
This is a quiet town and there is a few souvenir shops and restaurants that still open until 8pm.
The next day, we walked around Hell Valley and enjoyed the last onsen in the hotel. I really like my hotel stay and enjoyed the onsen as well as the morning walk around the Jigokudani Hell Valley. I think I will come back again!#Jigokudani #Hell valley #noboribetsu

Noboribetsu Jigokudani (Hell Valley)
Getting There - Bought a Noboribetsu Area pass and just take a JR train there. There’s direct bus to take you there from the station.
Quite a breathtaking sight at Jigokudani and I feel like it’s a must to visit when you’re in Hokkaido. However, please take note that it’s quite dangerous to visit during winter as the slopes are slippery. Do not recommend to bring along elderly during winter. There’s also some restaurant and a bear park nearby for you to visit after visiting Jigokudani. 👍🏻

Jigokudani or Hell Valley at Noboribetsu
This is for me a must go place if you like hiking and exploring a big park. A lot of walking is required and there are many trails to explore . Steam coming out from every place and during winter a hot and cold weather at the same time , syok.
Very insightful view of Oyunuma, a sulfurous pond with a surface temperature of 50 degrees Celsius and a smaller, even hotter, mud pond nearby. No , can’t go down there .
Oyunumagawa. With steam seeing, the river flows through the forest, wonderful sight. It is possible to follow the river for several hundred meters and enjoy a natural foot bath (ashiyu) along the way.#bucketlistreboot #MustDo

Speaking of "Hell", the thought may be horrible. In fact, this is a crater relic. In the winter, it is black, white and gray. It looks a bit bleak. But definitely worth walking in person.

Dai-Ichi Takimotokan Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Largest onsen hotel
Dai-Ichi is the largest onsen hotel in Noboribetsu, the hotel is so huge that is divides into different wings. There are two types of room here, there are western room ( which means with proper beds) and the traditional Japanese room ( with Futon beds and tatami mat). We booked the traditional Japanese room and we love it! The tatami is so comfortable and the bed is soft as well, the toilet is well equipped and the TV is huge and modern enough. They also gave us some welcome snacks and green tea.
The onsen here are really huge! There are 3 outdoors onsen and a few different indoor onsen. I personally love the outdoor one. The onsen is hot enough and the snow make the onsen extra satisfying! There are also steam room and sauna in the onsen. You can just shower here after the onsen, they provide facial cleanser, toner and moisturiser. The shampoo selection is good too! I think this is a perfect place for family trip, all ages will love this place!
There are direct bus from Sapporo station, we also took a direct bus from here to the airport. It’s the best way to end your trip!

Free slow sashimi and snow crab leg
It’s definitely a food heaven if you love sashimi and snow crab! We stayed at Dai-Ichi at Noboribetsu and we booked for their buffet dinner as recommended by our friends. I am so glad that I booked this place, there are so many sashimi and all of them are very fresh! I created my own sashimi bowl with overflowing ikura, I’ve never eaten such delicious bowl of sashimi bowl like this!!
There are also free flow of giant snow crab leg, it was so sweet and meaty!! I don’t think you can find anything like this in Sg :( I had so many of this and it was so so good!! I also love the sweet potato salad , I was told that the sweet potato in Hokkaido it’s extra sweet and it’s true!
There are also a great selection of dessert corner, with free flow soft serve ice cream and daifu! I was so full at the point and such a pity that I can’t try all of them, I’ll definitely come back again and stay at this place!

🐻The pasture is near the hotel.
The first picture is Lake Judd, very beautiful.
The hotel has so many hot springs! They have various effects. The outdoor ones are so comfortable. It's amazing to soak in the hot springs while it's snowing. The lower body is hot while the upper body is cold. 🥶
RelaxationHolidays
How can I go to Hokkaido without a hot spring? How can I stay in a hot spring hotel? It is a very famous hot spring hotel in the local area. It is also very good on the Internet. It has been 159 years old since its opening. It has a quaint Japanese traditional style and a very good location. It is very close to Hell Valley. , you can walk. The room was specially selected. The room was quite spacious. On the tatami floor, the tea table was placed on the tatami. You can sit and drink tea and rest. After returning in the evening, the waiter has already laid the bed and feels very warm.
The yukata in the room is very nice. When you go to the hot springs, you must change it. There are five kinds of hot springs in it, the pools are very large, and there are open-air hot springs, which are very cool. Its interesting to have a big golden stick in the lobby of the hot springs. Every hour there will be a little ghost coming out to report the time. In addition, the hotel's buffet breakfast and dinner are very good, a wide variety, a variety of sashimi, seafood and Japanese cuisine are super delicious, cost-effective.

Noboribetsu Hot Spring Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Snow Heaven in Hell Valley!
Spent 2 days in the famed Noboribetsu Onsen village also known as the “Hell Valley” due to its famous sulphuric hot spring and craters!
Traveling from Sapporo Station- Noboribetsu Station-Hankyu Bus- our stay at Dai ichi Takimotokan.
It’s a relatively less crowded village but bustling with live and beau covered in snow!
The tiny village has convenience stores, alcohol stall, multiple food options and many devils statue littered around! Be sure to capture all of the onsen devils you can find!
We were extremely lucky to book a stay at Dai-Ich Takimotokan, check in and out were a breeze, opted for a full board, and got to soak in a variety of hotspring in our own hotel! There’s several hot spring pool in at outdoor area which also gives you a full view of the Hell Valley !
It’s a location not to be missed or rushed off for just a day trip!

Noboribetsu Hell Valley | The mysterious and magical first hot spring town in Hokkaido
♨️Noboribetsu Hell Valley is the source of Noboribetsu Onsen Town being rated as the first hot spring in Hokkaido. The hot spring basin of Hell Valley is distributed with many hotels from the top to the bottom of the terrain, and the hotels also take hot springs as an important project. Every hotel is within walking distance to Hell Valley Scenic Area.
⛰️Following the signs along the road, you will arrive at the scenic area, which is free (most scenic areas in Japan are free). Because it is a volcanic valley, you are already on the top of the mountain when you enter the scenic area. The mountain is emitting white nitrous smoke, which is a rare sight. Overlooking the bottom of the valley, you can see a narrow plank road on the top of the mountain, called 'Ghost Fire Road', leading straight to the bottom of the valley. We chose to go down. As we got closer to the bottom of the valley, the temperature got higher and higher, and the body felt hotter and hotter. There is no grass at the bottom of the valley, and the gray-blue hot spring water is gushing out, which makes people marvel at the wonders of nature. This kind of zero-distance direct feeling is really rare.
❤️Experience: In the journey of Hokkaido, hot springs are one of the must-experience projects. Almost all hotels in the hot spring town have soup pools. The ranking of Noboribetsu hot springs is well-deserved. The hot spring water is gray, with a strong sulfur smell, and the body is very smooth when soaked in it. Because Japanese hot springs are naked, you can't bring your phone in, so there will be no photos. From knowing hot springs in Hell Valley to finally enjoying in this gift of nature, this experience is rare and unforgettable...

Breath taking view at Jigokudani
Must visit scenic point in Noboribetsu, highly recommend to do a 20min walk from the main entrance of Jigokudani to reach Oyunuma, the trail is light and easy. Alternatively you can drive (5min), but parking is 500 yen. If you're visiting in August, would recommend to go in early morning or late afternoon when it's a bit cooler so the walk is easier. The view is absolutely amazing, but the smell of sulfur is fairly strong.#noboribetsu

In addition to the famous hot springs, other attractions are lacking. After taking a map study, I decided to change to the Knicks Ocean Park to see the penguin parade. The architecture of the
Knicks Marine Park is very special. It does not have the characteristics of many Japanese native architectures. Instead, it adopts the Nordic architecture. The most important castle is built with the Danish Jesk Castle as a template. Gives a feeling of a fairy tale world. After playing, I feel that the Knicks can do a good job for a small ocean park. Because the place is small, the pavilions are very compact. In the sardine tank, 10,000 sardines can be seen in a counter-clockwise parade with small sharks in the middle. The seals can be seen in the round glass, and the two seals are intertwined clockwise and clockwise. The parade of penguins is very cute and embarrassing. Zero distance from the penguin, watching them walk through the front, a wave, very cute.

Hakuraku ‘s Stone Statue
#celebratewithtrip
It’s fun to keep an eye out for these demons as you walk about the area, shopping and eating. We managed to meet the following stone statue: ( 4 out 5)
1. Stone statue for bringing good luck and prosperity for your business. You might strike it rich!
2. These couple statues can help your love life. Take a photo here if you want to give your love life a boost!
3. A statue for health and happiness in front of the public baths.
4. A demon at the geyser in Sengen Park. It blows every 3 hours or so.
Take your time and see what you can find!

Sengen Park (geyser)
#celebratewithtrip
This place is a very small place where you are able to see and smell of the onsen. It is located at the end of shopping street and at the start of the road leading to Hell’s Valley. The park is characterized by colorful inverted clubs and a boy (i think) statue holding a towel in one hand and the other holding a bowl (bathtub perhaps), reminding us that we are in onsen town. This geyser is really neat. Located underneath the street, it spews out superheater water every once in a while.
