This park is closed due to environmental concerns. The park sits adjacent to the mouth of the Santa Clara River where it runs into the Pacific Ocean. This delta area is a well know bird sanctuary as an estuary forms in this area. Natural forces tend to cause a build up of sand (berm) blocking the river water from draining into the Ocean and when this occurs the Park becomes inundated (flooded) making it uninhabitable. In past years flooding during the rainy season would breakdown the berm but in recent years it has not been breached thus causing the Park to close indefinitely. This was a very delightful place to visit when it was operational.
