What travelers say:

Legendary figure Sam Houston, Once a Tennessee congressman and governor, then moved to Texas, which was then Mexico, and then led Texas from Mexico's independence war. After success, he became the president of the independent Texas Republic, and then led the Republic of Texas to join in ten years later. The United States of America, elected as Texas senator, left office and became Texas governor, and was finally ousted by the state legislature for refusing to support the rebellion in the South at the beginning of the American Civil War. He is the only politician in American history to have served as a two-state legislator and two state governors. He is named for the city of Houston.
