Situated on a hill near Boudhanath, Kopan specializes in Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery has superb 180 degree views of Kathmandu. Retreats and meditation courses are offered, but it also makes a good day trip if you aren't ready or able to commit yourself to a multi-day course. It's a serene spot where Buddhist monks go about their day-to-day business. There's a gift shop/restaurant and library. If you have an interest in Buddhism, the monastery is worth a visit.

You should stay in this monastery at least a week, is so beautiful and peaceful place. And if even Buddhism is not your thing you still have a great opportunity to understand it better.

Kopan Monastery is a peaceful place with amazing views of Kathmandu Valley. Though access to the main temple is restricted, the grounds and gardens sporting the monks' living quarters are free to roam around in.
