We were wandering around the town snd saw this attractive restaurant down a little lane. We booked a table (just as well). It was a lovely friendly experience. A proper no nonsense Italian restaurant - with lots of local diners. We were given a taste of a local Perugian bean dish which was delicious. I started with melon and a generous portion of proscuito,my husband had the proscuito without melon. I had a delicious parmigiana di melanzane and my husband a tagliatelle al ragu, we had a very reasonable bottle of local Rubesco and needed no more than coffee. The service was very friendly and efficient. The restaurant was very attractive and we left feeling, asone should, very satisfied and happy. .
We went to Altromondo Ristorante many times while staying in Perugia. We had the homemade ravioli, pappardelle with wild boar sauce, pasta with asparagus and all tasted great. We also sampled the thick bean soup and it was excellent. Anna our waitress was friendly and spoke English and suggested many great dishes. We recommended this restaurant to others and they also enjoyed the restaurant. This restaurant seemed very popular with the local people since we only heard italian every time we visited the restaurant and it is not on a Main Street.
Located in the center of the old town this is an attractive restaurant with an obviously large local following. We seemed to be the only non-locals in the place. Many of the guests were greeted as old friends by the staff. Food was quite good and service was friendly but did deteriorate as the evening wore or. The pace was.quick but we were never rushed. Much better than the negative reviews suggest.
Good choice of appetizers ('taglieri') and first courses. The handmade pasta dishes were excellent. I didn't try the second courses but they looked very good. All for very reasonable prices. The only problem is that the restaurant is very crowded at all times. One is advised to book in advance and arrive a little earlier than the time of the booking, just to make sure they don't forget you.
