What people are saying:

The new Petra Museum was completed in 2018 and officially opened at the beginning of 2019. It is completely free, and it is open until 8 or 9 in the evening, which surprised us. After entering the gate, there is a service desk on the left. There are instructions in three languages: Arabic, English and Japanese. A video is shown on the right, explaining the local history. Visitors will not miss the most eye-catching sign, that is, the people of Jordan thank the Japanese people for funding and designing the new museum. The exhibits in the museum are not limited to the local cultural relics of Petra. Many of the cultural relics were unearthed in surrounding towns. Some cultural relics were just excavated a few years ago. The life and development of the Nabataeans are explained in detail .

Do go see this very well done introduction to the Nabatean era

This modern museum with artifacts and multimedia explanations of the life and times of the Nabatean peoples will only take 30 minutes and is a good intro to what you will see on the walk to the Petra ...

    Worth a visit

Visiting the museum helps put Petra in perspective. It provides the history of the site and its founders, the Nabatean.
