Introduction
The gorgeous Gothic tower guards the entrance to the Charles Bridge as it has since 1380. You can climb the stairs to the top of what is oft regarded as the most beautiful Gothic tower in Europe for a spectacular view of the River Vltava and parts of the city. This gateway to the old town has been a both a witness and a part of some ghastly history. The severed heads of anti-Habsburg rebels were displayed atop it in the 1600’s to act as a deterrent to other would-be dissenters. Who can say whether the deterrent worked or not but the decapitated criminals did ensure one thing: this is now a popular spot on all of Prague’s ghost tours.

Everything you would expect in a tourist driven area. Street performers to traditional Czech stores and cuisine. Most restaurants offers outside eating areas, this was great due to all the beautiful architecture.
Beautiful old tower and fantastic way to kick off a stroll along the bridge. Watch out for the pickpockets though as they love preying on the plentiful tourists in the area, especially in the evening
