It took almost 400 years to build Spain's largest church and the third biggest in the Christian world. Standing on the site of what was Seville's main mosque, one can still see elements of the Mudejar style of art and late Gothic style architecture. Work began in the early 15th century, and by the time it was finished, it had five naves with a floor space measuring 116m x 76m. There is an astounding number of fine paintings and sculpture inside.

The Torre del Oro, or “Tower of Gold” in Spanish, is a military watchtower overlooking Seville in southern Spain. Some say that the gold found in the New World was stored here, giving the tower its nickname. Built by the Almohad dynasty in the early 13th century, it was used as a means of controlling Seville and defending it from invaders, however Christian forces eventually defeated the Muslim occupants during the Middle Ages. After a history of near abandonment, the tower eventually became a restored naval museum, an examination of the history of Seville and its adjacent river.
