Hekou Ancient Town is located in Hekou Town of Lead Mountain County. It was once one of the four famous towns in Jiangxi Province in history. It was called “Shawan City” in the Northern Song Dynasty. During the Jiajing Period of Ming Dynasty, the handicraft industry was developed here, and the waterway went directly to Poyang Lake. During the Qing Emperor Qianlong period, the estuary entered its heyday, and the goods such as Fujian, Zhejiang, and Guangzhou were distributed here and sold to the whole country, becoming a place where merchants gathered. Today, there are still old-fashioned imprints and quaint features. The ancient streets of the Ming and Qing Dynasties along the river stretched, ancient and elegant; the roads on the bluestone pavement recorded the prosperity of the town.
