Temple
Kongsi, or clanhouses, are assembly halls that function as the civic and religious centers for overseas Chinese, and the most fascinating in Penang is the Khoo Kongsi, or the "Dragon Mountain Hall." The 100-year-old masterpiece was purchased by the Khoo Clan at a time when the family was the wealthiest and most powerful in the city. Craftsmen from China were commissioned to intricately craft it, and their labor created a meticulous and beautiful example of Chinese architecture. Festivals are held here during Chinese holidays all around the year.
