Surrounded on all four sides by a moat and guarded by towers, the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is an integral part of the palace complex. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kandy. There are also four smaller guardian spirit temples nearby, including the Natha Temple, Kataragama Temple, Vishnu Temple and Pattini Temple.
