I'd like to go on and on about the myriad of reasons why Ala Moana Beach is thousands of times better than nearby Waikiki Beach, but frankly I am still trying to deal with the fact that I can give this favorite location only five stars. I mean, it's about a mile or so long, with maybe one person for every forty square feet or so (on a busy day), protected from waves by an offshore reef (with great surf just past said reef), home to a number of snack bars and other beach-side facilities, right across the street from the best mall in the state, and maybe a ten minute walk from Waikiki. If there was ever a beach deserving of six stars it would be Ala Moana. For location, amenities, and overall quality of beach and water, it's hands down the best beach in Honolulu. There... "*" that makes six!
