Alcatraz Island (Alcatraz Island, commonly known in English as The Rock) is an island located in San Francisco Bay, California, less than 2 miles from San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf, with an area of 0.0763 square kilometers, deep water on all sides, and difficult to connect with foreign traffic. Therefore, it was selected by the United States government as a prison construction site. There was a federal prison on Alcatraz Island, which held many well-known heavy criminals, abolished in 1963 and is now a famous tourist attraction in San Francisco Bay along with the Golden Gate Bridge.
