Mother of the rivers - Vannian Columbia Glacier / Atabaska Ice Columbia Ice Sheet (Columbia Icefield), located at the junction of British Columbia and Alberta Provinces, Canada. It is the largest ice sheet in the Rocky Mountains and one of the most accessible glacier groups in North America. Because its main accumulation area is located in the continental watershed, it is called the mother of the river. As a remnant of the ice sheet of the Quaternary Ice Age, due to the high density of the ice sheet, the sun cannot refract, it will appear crystal clear blue light, which is very magnificent under the clear sky. The snowmelt thus flows to the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic seas, which are natural treasures formed through four ice ages. The glacier is a snow channel that slides from the bottom of the ice sheet to the slope because of the gravity squeeze, and it carries heavy materials such as ice and snow, stones, and so the flow is very slow. The seven-kilometer-long Asabaska glacier (Athabasca Glacier) is only about seven meters a year away, so it may take hundreds of years or even thousands of years for ice and snow to flow from the ice sheet to the lower end of the glacier. Overlooking the huge glacier that has been going on for thousands of years is a rare experience in a lifetime. Note: The glacier is only open in summer. Tickets for the snow field bus on the glacier are very difficult to buy. If you buy online in advance, you need to book a time. If you buy on the spot, you will likely be ranked very behind: we buy tickets at 2pm and can only buy tickets at 5pm.
