Beishan Stone Carving Review

I booked the excursion to Dazu Rock Carvings through a local tour agent. The trip covers two main sites - Beishan and Baodingshan. The journey from Chongqing takes about 2.5 to 3 hours ride to Beishan Scenic site. After entering the site, we need to climb 140 steps to reach the top of the mountain. The Beishan Rock Carvings houses most of the sculptures dated back to 892 to 1162 AD. Part of the collection of the Dazu Rock Carvings, the 10,000 carvings are mostly found in a hive-like caves. Beishan is famous for its delicate and beautiful statues and recognized as the gallery of Tang and Song cave temple art. Beishan Scenic area is not a large area, a walking tour can be completed within 1 hour. The drive to Baodingshan is about 20 minutes ride.
