Zhanpo Island is situated about 18 kilometers off the southeast coast of Dagang. It can be reached by speedboat for about half an hour from Dagang. The island is composed of seven islands, of which Vintan Island is the largest. At present, there are more than 3,000 inhabitants on the island, 70% of them are fishermen, and the rest are mainly farming and small businesses. As it is not far from the ancient city of Hui'an in China and Vietnam, Hui'an was the most important trading port in Southeast Asia as early as the 15th century. At that time, many countries from Southeast Asia, Arabia, China and Japan used it as a base for buying and selling silk, jewelry, porcelain, spices and various special products and daily necessities. Before entering Hui'an port, merchant ships from overseas had to stop near Zhanpo Island. Po, which had flourished for a while after applying for an entry licence, was gradually abandoned by silting in Hui'an Port until the end of the 19th century, and Zhanpo Island was able to return to its former freshness and nature. People who have visited Zambo Island in central Vietnam always leave a deep and beautiful impression on its fresh and green mountains, clear water, white beaches, rich ecological environment, tranquil small fishing port and friendly villagers.
