The National Museum and Natural History Museum have a combined ticket of 600 rupees, so don't forget to visit another museum next to it. The camera ticket is 250 rupees. If you don't buy it, there will definitely be staff targeting you. The collection is particularly rich, and Sri Lanka is a must-come place.

The museum is housed in a two storeys building. The galleries on the ground floor are arranged in a historical sequence starting from the prehistoric ages. The galleries on the upper floor are arranged on a thematic basis. Be prepared to spend a few hours in the museum if you are interested in the history of Sri Lanka as the museum houses a huge collection of artifacts. There are also many statues of Buddha. You can find one of the most well-preserved statues of Buddha from the fourth century in the lobby.

    4/5Excellent

The museum closes at 4pm and tickets cost 1200 rupees for foreigners. It's a small museum telling the history of the nation and holds key artifacts reflecting Sri Lankan society and religion. There are three floors and 16 themed rooms. Do note that the museum is open-air / does not have air conditioning so it can get incredibly warm and humid inside. Overall it was a great learning experience!

The Museum collects precious cultural relics of various historical periods in Sri Lanka, including various stone statues, bronze statues, gems, weapons, paintings and various knitted goods, metal products, folk arts and crafts during the Kantian Dynasty, armor of the last Kantian King, etc. There are also the Leo throne from Kangdi and Chinese porcelain unearthed from all over the country. The Zheng He Stele is a witness of Zheng He's visit to Sri Lanka. At the top, there are three inscriptions in Chinese, Arabic and Tamil, which mainly record the purpose of Zheng He's coming to Sri Lanka. This stone tablet proves that since the beginning of the Maritime Silk Road, there has been a friendly history of cultural and trade exchanges between China and Sri Lanka.
