The Columbus Monument, at the end of Lambra Street in Barcelona Port, was built in 1886 to celebrate the Universal Exposition and Columbus's global journey. The Columbus statue on the tall monument looks firm and stares at the distance with its right arm held high. The monument is inscribed with two lines in Spanish "Glory belongs to Columbus" and "Salute to Columbus" and is guarded by eight stone lions around the base, which is very dignified. It is the landmark of the city.
