Doe's Eat Place Review

Staff is friendly and works hard to make everything right while you are there. Meat is sold by the pound and we had the choice of 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0 pounds. Served homestyle, which real gets everyone involved in the meal.

The pizza is delicious, you can pack it away if you can't finish it, and the price is very affordable. Some friends advised me to try it here, saying that I was very excited and I was really not disappointed. When we passed here before, it was often empty and sold out, and it can be seen that the business here is very prosperous.

Not impressed, the overall feeling is good.

We finally made it to Doe's last Saturday night and it was everything promised. Since we were with friends, we were able to try several starters including the famous tamales. They were great with the accompanying chili, but we surprised how much we enjoyed the angry shrimp and the fried asparagus. But don't fill up on these, or the sad little salad, because the steaks are huge. Ordering a steak by the pound is unique. I had the T-bone, my wife the filet, and our friends both had rib eyes which were surprisingly bone in. All were prepared as ordered and delicious. If you are traveling and can't take home a doggie bag it would be easy to over oder here. The only negative we found was the very limited wine list or this would have been a five star review.

Stopped through Baton Rouge on the way home from vacation. Found Doe's on Trip Advisor and booked a table for our family. Rating this place is complicated... The food and service are absolutely five stars, but there are other issues that made me rate down. The steaks were absolutely cooked perfectly. The service was fantastic. The ambiance is really fun. The wine was wonderful (we ordered a bottle of the Bordeaux). My problem was that I had read that you could order smaller portions and the smallest steaks (other than filets) were 2 lbs. I had four kids (girls) with us. First of all everyone splits an order and there is still way too much meat on the table. You only get one side with the split order and so in each pair of us one person didn't get what they wanted (including me...I let my wife pick the side she wanted). At this price point, I would rather everyone order and get what they want than have to share meals and leave not completely satisfied. For the amount we spent at the end, we could have done Texas de Brazil and everyone would have had plenty of sides and multiple meats. So the experience at Doe's was fun but next time we'll go elsewhere.
