The Catholic Henan General Convent is located in the eastern suburbs of Kaifeng, east of Yangweipu Village, built in 1930 with funds from the Holy See's Ministry of Mission. The Catholic Henan General College is a special high school specially established for the training of Catholic Chinese clergy. It was founded in 1930 and closed in 1958. It lasted 28 years. After consultation, the Catholic bishops of Henan Province at the time of the year considered it necessary to establish a senior convent to train Chinese clergy. The site was finally selected by the Italian Missionary Church in Milan and was built in Kaifeng. The exterior of the General Convent is Chinese classical and the interior is Western-style, so it has an architectural significance that cannot be ignored in the history of architecture.
